Whoa, talk about having our hands full! Believe it or not, this wasn’t even as bad as when we started. Half of the house was filled with the previous owner’s hoarded items and the other half was burned down. Needless to say, we were in for quite a challenge, but after gutting the space, we couldn’t turn down the great bones and natural light this room offered.

After some (oh my gosh, so much) work we turned this nightmare into a dream kitchen/dining experience. Sure, anything would have been an upgrade, but we didn’t want to miss the chance to customize absolutely everything.

With the kitchen facing the east, and the dining room facing the west, we were set up with natural light from sun up to sun down. We couldn’t ask for better luck. Using this gift, we chose to mix a light color pallet with warm yellow pine hardwood floors and modern features. This gave the already huge space an even roomier atmosphere.

We used a unique modern lighting fixture provided by Ferguson in the center of the kitchen that would draw attention to the windows that lined the top of the wall and in the ceiling.

To compliment the white shaker cabinetry we lined the backsplash with a clean, crisp, white subway tile behind a Ferguson fireclay farmhouse apron sink and Carrara marble countertops.

The Bosch stainless steel appliances were must-haves, giving the room the perfect balance between modern and traditional.

This was by far the most intense home-flip we’ve ever gotten ourselves into, but we couldn’t be happier with the turnout. If the open house wasn’t so successful, I might have found myself a new place to call home! Cheers to the lucky family who snagged it!
